Please explore your local library's resources, such as 1896 newspaper microfilm, old journals and diaries, letters, whatever local treasures might enrich this story. Helga and Clara walked over 3500 miles, stopping at small towns, railroad depots, ranches and homes along the way. You can pinpoint the time period pretty accurately throughout the book. Although I visited several states, I couldn't stop in all the town libraries and museums to search and I'd love your help. Could we find out more about the mystery sponsor? Is there a diary from a home she slept in one night? Any more insights on their different political views? Any insights into their days in Brooklyn? Any "found photographs" that they sold along the way?
